I think he went back to the team because he didn't want to end up like his cousin. Timo wanted to know he belonged somewhere and to feel safe. He didn't want to worry about getting hurt or getting into dangerous stuff.
Timo rejoined the team for a couplem of reasons. I believe he did it for his own saftey, and because he missed the game. He had been playinh since he was a kid and couldnt bare without it. He was willing to accept the contract and do whatever it takes to make it back on the team.
